Bronze Replica Thor's Hammer with Runic Inscription & Mask Design.

This small Thor’s hammer, dating to the 10th century, was discovered on the Danish island of Lolland. Uniquely, it bears a runic inscription reading “Hammer Is” (HAMAR + IS)—the only known example of its kind. The inscription is particularly intriguing: it omits the letter 'A' and features a reversed 'S', possibly done for visual balance or due to the maker’s limited literacy.Interestingly, the runes appear upside down when the hammer is worn, suggesting the message was meant to be read with the head of the hammer held upward. The front of the pendant features a stylised design, interpreted from the original, which seems to depict a bird-like face in the characteristic Borre style..

- The inscription on the back reads 'HAMAR.IS', meaning 'This is a hammer', and the front design is thought to represent a face in the form of a mask.
